A house that seemed out of character for the area exploded. Here is the story. What could have caused such an explosion? http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/...-byhalia-mississippi

Not a firefighter. But ruptured gas lines can cause a helluva boom. http://www.citylab.com/work/20...sasters-happen/8627/ Like level a neighborhood boom. Wonder if they had a propane tank get compromised. -------------------------- Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

We had one a few years back. A gas leak from the underground line had filled a basement. It was summertime during the middle of the day. A boom loud enough to be felt at the firehouse about 1 mile away. It completely leveled the house and did significant damage to the houses on either side. Not much fire to speak of when we arrived as the blast itself was concussive enough to "blow the fire out" One of the more interesting calls I have been on. Edited for spelling.

Awful lot of smoke and flame pushing out of a 'relatively intact' structure to start. Majority of damage looks like collapse after it had burned for a bit. Thick, pressurized, dark smoke, it was burning real hot. Likely a gas (NG/LP) issue of some sort. Not enough to produce a destructive concussion but enough to ignite into a big ol blowtorch and send that baby a-rippin. Even us New England boys would probably hit that one from the yard. ________________________
