jljonesNew Whirlpool stove problem
When you Google the problem on the internet, apparently no one knows the answer.
When I’m attempting to boil water (or pasta or eggs) on my new Whirlpool electric stove, once it heats to the highest setting, it kicks off. It’s an over temp feature. I have to let it get as hot as it will, then cycle it off, the let it heat up till it kicks off, then cycle it off and on.
Anyone have an answer on how to make this less frustrating to boil on high setting?

Does it have the old style elements or a glass top? What happens if you do nothing does the element cycle back on or when it cycles back off do you think it needs action taken? I wonder if your are not giving it enough time for it to cycle the element back on.

Johnny 3eaglesWarranty? Whirlpool very easy to work with. I have an electric Whirlpool range (glass top) and it never does that.

PASigThat sounds like I’d be returning that stove for another brand without a stupid “feature” like that.

triggertreatI have an 8 in and a 9 in burner on my stove. If the pan is smaller than the burner it will cycle on high setting before the water boils. If the pan is close to the burner size it wont start cycling until the water boils.

We recently had the very same problem.
No help from dealer....said 'we were warned' etc.
We read up on many of the solution/complaint pages discovered thru search feature.
In a nutshell without dramatics, the best solution we came up with, was to simply order new old-style burners without the stoooopid new design feature.
In addition, the new burner pan material is beyond cleanable after just a few days of non-boil pot heating.
We ordered a new set of new-Old style burners without the button, and WITH a set of new porcelain burner pans. Less than $50 delivered. Amazon. BE CAREFUL YOU KNOW WHAT YOU"RE ORDERING. there's a jillion vairiations listed.
Also, read the stuff in the link I will provide later, where the research guy talks about MAKING THE NEW BURNERS actually sit flat.
There's several approaches depending on which models you choose.
See: goodmoneysense.com/disable-sensitemp/
More later. Discuss your progress. Read the link.
re: "The call center knows if there is a quick fix or a recall etc.:
Our dealer info on the subject was wrong and a waste of time.
Given my Sweet Bride could not stand the thought of a newer/different stove design. A few months ago our old Whirlpool suddenly shorted out, listed somewhere here in the stacks.
Nothing generated as much bitter heat as the shameless fraud/pointless gimmick/etc of burner safety buttons that won't let you boil water. Or heat soup for that matter.

And send the bill to Whirlpool for fixing their 'new improved' version?
