Well, 90% normal for COVID times. The holidays are great, but the older I get the more I appreciate normal. Serious about crackers

Fulton County (Georgia) schools return to class tomorrow but due to the surge in COVID cases in the area, they’ve gone to remote learning from home for the first time this school year (through the end of the week, at least). I’m hoping they’ll be back in class and reasonably back to normal next week. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca

Yet Philly is going towards having to show proof of Vax for indoor dining very soon.

Things have been pretty normal in NW Montana for the last 6 months. Sure, a few chain restaurants still are closed to indoor dining but we never went to them anyway. We still see the staff at Costco, Lowes and HD masked up but not the patrons. Only about 5-10% of shoppers wear masks anymore. Students aren't wearing masks either. Yep, we're 90%+ back to normal. Things becoming more normal here. The two major school districts in our part of the County are back this week with mask optional. My guess is the admin and teachers will try and shame kids into wearing masks. Semper Fidelis

The DC area is getting it's first snowfall of the Winter. We are at about 5" right now based on my patio table, and the entire city is shut down. Wet and sticky stuff, in past years we would have lost power by now, don't know what is different. So, "back to normal?" Not so much.

I've lived my life normally. We did stay in for two weeks because we had colds and didn't want to pass it on. But I've met people who wouldn't want to go to a lunch meeting because "no with omicron all around." "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Most of the country away from the Atlantic or Pacific coast is "normal." The bigger issues are inflation and snow. We're just sitting back watching the meltdowns.

I put the reindeer away days ago but the wife hasn’t put away inside decorations yet. I’m over the holidays but January and February are brutal so I’m okay delaying the storage of good cheer. These go to eleven.

I love the feeling that there are no more disruptive holidays for a few months. Now I'm just counting the days for daylight savings to come back.

Tomball ISD (NW Houston) back to school in person today Wed 1/05. See plenty of folks with masks on at HEB (grocery store) but equal amounts without them. Most food servers wear a mask but patrons are a mixed lot. No showing anything to enter anyplace I am aware of in Texas. HK Ag
