a1abdjI Bought A Bus
I once knew a prominent attorney in my area that flew his own airplane. WWII veteran who was captured by the Germans, and had a heck of" a life story. One day he asks if I knew why he had his own airplane. After not having a good enough answer he exclaims "because I can carry a gun on my own airplane".
Fast forward to present times, and we have a relative that will be getting married in the future all the way out on the east coast. I'm not flying on an airplane. I'm not wearing a mask or any of the other associated nonsense. I get the bright idea that I could rent an RV from a local person and make a trip out of it. The kids have never been out of this state (kindergarten and 5th grade), and if we drive we can stop wherever on the way there and on the way back.
While researching that endeavor one of my friends suggests I reach out to one of the bus companies out of Nashville that handles the music acts. Due to covid their business has been hurting and they are willing to rent you one of their million dollar coaches for vacation purposes. You don't get to drive it yourself, but the daily rate includes a driver and fuel. After doing the math......
I can buy a bus for what the rental would have cost me, also courtesy of covid wreaking havoc upon the tour bus industry as a whole. And so I did.
Now all I have to do is convert it from a tour coach into a motorhome. Anybody here ever done this?
(Not my bus in photo, but exactly the same).

Skins2881No clue, but make sure you post lots of pics and details on the process.
I would assume that a tour bus already has accomodations for sleeping, eating, and restrooms.

Flash-LBMy Father and I converted a school bus to an RV in 1955. That was before there were RVs.
Didn't do a kitchen or a bathroom, though, just removed most of the seats, put in curtains, some storage and that was that.

ridewvWow that'd make a swell toy hauler!
No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

OKCGeneThat's going to be a pretty darn good bugout vehicle.
You could of chartered a private jet, round trip, for a heckuva lot less. No TSA crap that way.
There's a guy, Captain Moonbeam, in St Louis who was flying as a Captain for a jet charter company. Captain Moonbeam is his youtube channel name. I don't know his real name, and he hasn't posted lately. He struck me as a very particular and very safe pilot. The company also had a Cessna Caravan, which could carry your family just fine and at a much cheaper cost than a true private jet.

Balzé HalzéPretty awesome. Some sweet possibilities there.
Do you drive it yourself then? I'm assuming a CDL would be required?

ranger312I havent done it, but one of my customers in the 90's did. He bought a Greyhound bus with nearly a million miles on it, with a lot of recent work done to it. All he had to do was the interior, and that took him over a year. He did a beautiful job on it. It certainly rivaled any factory built coach. I dont remember what he spent on it, but I'm sure it was substantial.

ZSMICHAELI was hoping you had a bus with the musicians logo. Every stop they would rush the bus for an autograph. So instead of Dolly Parton you would step off the bus.

BigSwedeCool. Please post pics when you get that monster and during the re-do
You might contact one of the van-truck conversion companies, I'm sure they are desperate for business. No new vehicles to convert
I wouldn't have the balls to tackle it myself, or the bank account

Pale HorseA friend of mine who owns a music production company in Nashville did exactly this and he loves it. He just rides it around the country visiting the tours his companies are involved with. I know he did some massive conversions to his, if you are interested I can get you the name of the company he used.
