I have an iPad 2 which I backed up to my computer last Wednesday or so. I will be getting an iPad Air tonight if the USPS does their job according to the shipping information from the vendor and their website. Question...can I take the backup file from the iPad 2 and restore that data file to the iPad Air or will the iPad 2 backup file be incompatible with the iPad Air? Thanks!!! While I am far from a Guru on the subject, I backed up my old 2 gen iPad and everything moved over to the new iPad recently. I recently updated my wife from a iPad Air 1 to current generation. I backed up in iTunes and dumped it on the new one. Worked great. Thanks for the input and responses. Looks like I'll have zero problems uploading that backup file to my iPad Air. "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. I recently bought an iPad Pro. It was the simplest configuration process I've ever had with an Apple product but I backup to the cloud. I don't think you'll have an issue. When you connect, you should get a prompt asking you if you want to "restore" your old apps, etc. to the new device. But, if you have any doubts, to be on the safe side, I would make an appointment and bring the devices to an Apple Store (assuming you have one in your area). _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell | |||

Just for the hell of it |
Should have no problem. I back mine up to the cloud these days though. The cloud is good because it will backup your iPad/iPhone to the cloud automatical every day. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn.
