My Visio has had a number of problems over the last couple of years and I'm tired of dicking with it. New TV time.
Size isn't critical, my current 40" class is plenty. Obviously, Visio won't be on the shopping list. Likewise, based on anecdotal evidence, LG will be excluded.
Thinking Sony? Other recommendations?
Going shopping tomorrow.

I have a Highsense Roku I LOVE. I WILL get another.

Check out Hisense from Costco for budget basement price. I've got 3 over 4 years old and they have been trouble free. 43" will probably be under $300 for Black Friday. I did a quick Amazon search and a 70" is under $500 w/coupon.

Wait a few days. Next week is Black Friday for good deals.
You can wait a day or 2 past Friday, or select curbside pickup online. .

I was in a Walmart the other day and there was pallet of 65 inch Samsung TV’s up front for $389.

Samsung is my go to, and with current prices there is no reason to go with a second tier company.

We have a few TCL Roku TVs at work. For a business purpose, they work well. The one in my office may get tuned in to Friday F1 practice on occasion

TCL is the best bang-for-the-buck in budget TVs.
But if you can get a Samsung or LG in your price range, I'd do that.

I just saw a 70" Samsung under 500 bucks in the past few days.

TCL & Hisense are 'state owned' Chinese companies! Personally, I'd spend a little more on a Sony (my preference), an LG or a Samsung...Just sayin'

LG seems to have a better reputation here than I've been led to believe.
LG appliances don't seem to get much love, perhaps their TVs are better?
Thanks for the tip on Hisense and TCL parentage, I'll be avoiding them. I'm also EXTREMELY reluctant to have Alexa/Voice remote capability.
Advice to wait for Black Friday is worth considering. I won't be fighting the crowds (I'd rather take an ass-whipping...) but perhaps on-line?

Yes, LG makes fantastic TVs (their OLEDs are best in class), but terrible fridges and washers.

Also, I got my 70" Samsung at Costco for something like $650. It's on my back porch, so I didn't want to put a hyper premium $2k TV out there.
UI is a bit slow, but it otherwise works great.

I vote for Sony. Their picture quality is generally the best in whatever category they're in, and since they run Google TV as their OS, it has full Chromecast support so you can run Smart TV apps from your phone (even an iPhone) instead of using the remote to scroll through menus.

We just got a 55" Samsung Smart TV from Costco for about $350. Set up was easy, wireless so now have a boatload of viewing options. Will cut the cable this month.
Beautiful picture, very pleased with it so far.

^^ This is what we have, as well. No issues, and the costco warranty can't be beat.
