Well, after a bit of waiting, we closed on our home yesterday. Tonight is a thorough cleaning, tomorrow is pest control spraying, and Friday we move.
I am so happy we are blessed enough to have a home of our own.

The tree in the front yard will be gone before the weekend is over, and replaced with a cactus.

Congrats. GF and I are looking at a home just outside Tucson. I'm amazed at the price range and shitty conditions of the homes up for sale...

Pssst: House seller - CLEAN the inside of the house before you place on the market.

When we moved to Vegas in 2009 we looked at over 100 homes due to the crashed market. There was definitely a correlation in my mind with living like a pig and a home being forced into foreclosure. Of the 100 about 5 could have been moved into without major clean up and repair.

We bought a distressed house that had been vacant for a while. The deal took over six months to close, but the listing agent kept the house and landscaping in good shape, so it was fine when we moved in. Of course, once you start using stuff all the time, the things that worked fine during the inspection begin to break. But it wasn't that bad. We did see some pretty rough places that looked great from the photos or curb, but, once inside, we were glad our realtor and I were always carrying. Some of those places definitely had been occupied by squatters.

I really like the style and simplicity of your new home. I remember your first thread about the move. A friend of mine visited Arizona for the first time on vacation a few years ago. He came back saying that in the future they would be moving to a place they found called Cottonwood.

I think there are five different species of rattler around here. The ones I see most often are the western diamondback, aka the "coon tail”.

I’m just so excited to have a place that we like. Our current rental kind of sucks, and I will be quite happy to call this place home.

I’m happy to get to share this great day with all you guys here.
