It’s like that old saying about the military “trying to fight the last war” and not being up to date with tactics and weapons. They’re fighting the last war here and it’s not going to work. My prediction? They end up armed within a few years like virtually every other police force in the world. | |||

Just think about Seattle a few summers ago. They burned the city and were proud of it. The mayor called for more money and officers (eventually). I could not find the press conference but the Sheriff came on and said, um no. We have plenty of money and officers to do our jobs. We just need to be allowed to. Notice, they can wrestle, grab, pull, etc. but the cops cannot DO anything about it. This is a clear ROE issue. If all four of those cops pulled a baton and started smacking heads they would be peacefully cuffed and compliant. The result of NOT having good ROE? No one respects them and wants to verbally argue and resist, and even bystanders etc. This makes them nothing more than a 'shadow' of a the police since they are not allowed to be police. Administration, both PD and Government need to wake up, and let them be cops. This business will get out of control.
