A day late, and a dollar short |
It is interesting that all bullets in those three calibers penetrated and performed so closely. ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member

I wish they had used some fmj 9mm and 5.56mm . I'm curious how much they would have penetrated in comparison to the hp bullets. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

You'd think that law enforcement agencies would have databases reporting the results of of human shootings. Organized by caliber, cartridge, location of hit, penetration, and degree of expansion. Maybe not available to the public though. Serious about crackers

Look for a book called "Stopping Power". It's what you are describing. Bruce "The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams “It is just as difficult and dangerous to try to free a people that wants to remain servile as it is to try to enslave a people that wants to remain free." -Niccolo Machiavelli The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken

This material is reported and collected and has for decades. It's been hashed and rehashed and the fodder for every other ammunition article ever written...and the bottom line is it doesn't count for much. Whether Evans and Sannow, or Fackler, etc...it's far more about bullet placement than cartridge or caliber, far more so than bullet type. Even then it's still highly subjective to context and the individual who has been shot.
