I was in Academy last night picking up some stuff for my grandsons Karate classes and the store manager and I were talking ammo prices. He said to expect some price increases around September. Something about the annual shutdown to do maintenance and other projects. If it's an annual shutdown, why would pricing be any different in Fall 2023 than it was in Fall 2022? Remington Ammo was purchased by Vista Outdoor which owns Federal, CCI, and Speer. Yeah, no clue. I have 30k rounds of mostly various 9mm on order with Winchester from October. I got nothing yet. Last month, I ordered 25k rounds of 9mm from Federal/Speer and they told me 12+ month wait because they are so back logged. Not minority enough! | |||

I had a manager at Surplus Arms & Ammo tell me he hated Trump because they made more money under Obama than any time in the history of the business and it all came to screeching halt in November of 2016, and it shocked me, but it shouldn't have. They make ammo by the warehouse. For example, when making 9mm they will fill, say, three warehouses, then re-tool for say, 38, and based on prior use, they may only make one warehouse full of it. Then they change calibers again. The ammo in the warehouse is sold throughout the year until it is time for them to make a run of 9mm again. During the Covid stupidity, manufacturers focused on most popular calibers and let others run dry not making obscure calibers. And they still couldn’t keep up with demand.
