Hopefully the feds can become involved with the blatant school board's inactivity.

Charge the band director and students.

As if this stunt weren't bad enough, last week two Brookhaven LEO's were gunned down by thugs.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

The kids holding the guns need to be charged just like any others would be under the zero tolerance policy.

Let their parents sort it out in court.

Slap on the wrist Mad

A high school band in Mississippi was barred from a yearly state competition after it recently depicted holding police officers at gunpoint during a halftime performance.

The state's High School Activities Association reportedly notified the Jackson School District last week of the sanctions against Forest Hill High School.

The sanctions also include prohibiting band members from wearing uniforms and marching at football games for the rest of this season.

Images from the Oct. 5 halftime performance viral after students who appeared to be dressed as doctors pointed toy guns at officers on the ground.

Superintendent Errick Greene told the Associated Press that his students should not be "any focus of wrongdoing or poor judgment."

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant condemned the act, tweeting that it was "unacceptable in a civilized society."

Greene added that "appropriate actions" were taken against band director Demetri Jones, although he could not give specifics as to what those actions were.

"Unfortunately we do believe there has been a serious lapse in judgment," he said.

The AP also reported that Rep. Becky Currie (R) is calling for a probe by a watchdog committee to see if taxpayer money was used to buy the fake guns used during the performance.

Translated: We will continue to reinforce poor decisions and improper actions to our students by allowing adults to use them, and as a plus we'll remove any individual lessons to be learned as a consequence of participating.

We'll also reinforce that there should be no objection to participation in any scheme like this.

At this age they should have known better, and I'm amazed that not one band member told a parent.

Bet those kids were told to keep it quiet, and they did, which make them complicate in the decision...

The Rice Band (the MOB) has had its teeth pulled. They wouldn't do anything more than mildly smart-ass now. No more hard-edged satire or commentary.

While this is beyond messed up, you cannot lay blame on or punish the students. Even if eager participants, they are minors and were instructed to do this by their band director/teacher,

Do you really believe that high school students in this day and age do not know how to say "no" or simply refuse to participate in such crap?

What happened to expulsion under the zero-tolerance bullshit for anything resembling a gun? Including a drawing or finger-gun?

I posted the relevant sections out of their student handbook on page 1. It covers the toy guns and the zero tolerance.

I'm assuming like good leftists, they only apply the rules when it benefits their agenda.
