I'm not as literate in WiFi and IP security as I'd like to be but I know where to turn for advice.

We just adopted a Spanish Galgo to join our rescue Greyhounds (don't research Galgo's without tissues handy if you love dogs). I have Ring cameras around the outside of the house and had an original Ring stick up cam in the garage that I moved into the living room so I could spy on, I mean check in on, the dogs while we're at work.

I like the idea of keeping a cam inside so I looked at Ring's indoor cam but it's not very decor friendly. I'm looking at Nest and Arlo Q. Recording isn't that important but Nest doesn't have a free plan at all and Arlo does along with Arlo being lower cost up front.

In researching I came across Wyze cameras on Amazon for 26 bucks and very good reviews. Some of the negative's raise my question. It seems that the video is routed through China and people say it's a security problem. I don't know enough about it and don't really care if someone in China watches my dog videos but if it's a WiFi security risk or a risk in some other way I don't understand I'll pass them over but for 26 bucks they're appealing on the surface.

I'd like to talk you into a real camera but seems price, wifi and looks are the dominant issues.
In light of that - go ahead with your $26 cam, not much to lose there.
As far a security - what do you have to lose there? - that could be a much bigger question.
Good Luck
