The downside to being good friends with a BMW Motorrad mechanic....
I have a good friend in Virginia who shares my unique motorcycle taste, by that I mean he is into just about everything but really LOVES the classic BMW boxers and old street legal two strokes.
My friend has helped me find quite a few bikes but there is a downside to this friendship. Sometimes I’ll just buy a bike and a week or two later he will show me something like this at a GREAT price and ask me if I’m interested.

Unless there's something wrong with the wiring harness or you've got a line on a sunburst /6, why in God's name would you resist? You can find a handrail to go on the back of the seat from those folks in South Carolina.

I just bought a R1150GS from him last week. I really don’t want my wife to kill me.
It is a good deal though....

So have your buddy cache it away for a while, or say it was abandoned or something.

I have been a fan of the R100s all my life. Makes me want to get on a Cycle again!

Looks to be a 1977 frame with a later motor. Will need rear pegs and seat handguard to pass inspection in some states.

Looks very nice.
I've had my eyes on a couple BMWs in Florida (belonging to a member on here), but timing & finances haven't aligned for it to happen.

I have a bit of open space in the garage. I could go pick it up and "store" it for you for a little while, Stick.
(Heck, I just realized I'll be headed your direction in a week or two! Need a delivery?)This message has been edited. Last edited by: vthoky, March 29, 2019 09:45 PM

One of my BMW’s is a ‘77 R100S. Sweet ride. Lots of similarities. Smooth with some good torque.
The others are a ‘94 R1100RS and a ‘67 R50
Kind of set on R type Beemers.

Respect the Flying Brick - a good K75S will get you across town faster than anything short of a helicopter, and will still take you across the country if you find yourself giving in to the urge on the edge of town.

Stick,
I will offer to house that '100 for you. No charge. Just gonna need the keys so I can, you know... keep things properly lubricated...

What I wouldn't give for a late R100RT in pristine condition, or a time machine to go back and buy one new...

Wish I'd known. My friend just this week sold a 1983 R100RT pearl white 60th Anniversary to someone for $3K. I'd sold to him 7 years ago and it had under 10,000 miles on it. Completely gone over by airhead master mechanic Craig Immel two years ago.

Thanks, but even those from the mid-1990's (Oil Heads?) are now 20+ years old, so I'd be cautious about buying one. I don't like the new bikes very much.
Just wistful thinking, here.

I thought about it, hesitated and by the time I convinced myself to get it the thing had already sold. (FOR $3K!!!) It’s all good. My plan is to get either the original black and gold USD forks R Nine T or the gorgeous bullet shaped cafe racer version.
