We are having my younger brothers bachelor party in Austin in March. Are there any public ranges that would be fun around Austin? I was looking at the range at Austin to have him shoot some machine guns. We are staying at an Airbnb in Austin Thursday-Sunday and will be on Lake Travis Saturday all day. Any other must do activities would be appreciated. We have a group of 11-12 people going.

Lone Star Gun Range is an affordable outdoor range about 40 min drive southeast of Austin near Lockhart. Range fee is $23 for the day. They don't have machine guns in their rental fleet, but they do have a Barrett .50. The Range would makes a nice party destination, b/c it's modeled to be the Apple store/country club of gun ranges. Their prices reflect that too. Shoot Point Blank (soon to be Range USA), Red's, Eagle Peak, and Shady Oaks are typical ranges. Nothing wrong w/ them, but they don't offer things like full-auto or 50 BMG. Austin in March means SXSW will be going on, which means downtown will be packed w/ tourists & other visitors. Sixth St, Rainey St, Warehouse District, etc form the interconnected downtown bar district and are a staple for bachelor/bachelorette party groups. Your group can go there and try to hit on college girls. You can rent boats & jet skis on Lake Travis. You can also rent kayaks, canoes, & SUP boards to go up & down Lady Bird Lake along downtown. Another option is to rent bicycles to ride the Lady Bird Lake Trail 10 mile loop adjacent to the Lake/Colorado River. The trail is conveniently adjacent to downtown if you want to branch off and go exploring other POI. You can get to Barton Springs Pool from the trail. Let me reiterate that during mid-March, Central Austin is packed for SXSW, and bicycling is the best way to get around. If you're into music, concerts, & shows, then take your pick w/ SXSW going on. Hamilton Pool Preserve is about 45 min drive west of Austin and usually in high demand. You should make a reservation if you head out there. For dining, there are several world-class BBQ joints in Austin. Use Texas Monthly's Top 50 list as a guide. Please don't go to places such as Dickey's, Bill Miller, or even Rudy's and say you've had good TX 'cue. https://www.texasmonthly.com/i...ive/top-50-bbq-2021/ If your fine group of gentlemen is seeking an - ahem - gentlemen's club to congregate, Austin has several fine clubs of that type.

Thanks Iron Chef I’ll check all that out. I’m going to be the old man in the group at 41. My brother and his crew are in their early 30’s. I hope I can keep up. I’ve heard great things about the food in Austin. We have party bus and boat with captain for Lake Travis. Other than we plan to walk or Uber. We will be staying fairly close to 6th. Some of the other ideas were home run dugout and your biker gang. Since we will be ubering with a fairly large group we may want to keep activities closer or within the city. Thanks again

Depending on which weekend you'll be there, getting around downtown by pedicab may be more practical than Uber/Lyft. Food trailers are big in Austin. There are many food trailer parks where your group can go, and each guy can select what kind of food he wants w/o having to commit to a specific genre. Some of the most popular ones include: Veracruz All Natural, Torchy's Tacos, Chilantro, Mickelwaithe Craft Meats. Craft breweries are also big. A few I recommend are: Austin Eastciders, Austin Beer Garden Brewing (The ABGB), The Brewtorium, Blackstar Co-op, Pinthouse Pizza.
