We would have to build a 100 foot high wall around Manhattan. Then we could fill it with water. But seriously it’s too close. Needs to be more remote. Alaska has several desirable offshore locations - east drop off and departure. Out of sight, out of mind. The SEALs need sone real world training and a bunch of ammo to use up. Perhaps they should be delegated to tracking these people down and solving the problem. With the billions we spend on the NSA I’m sure we have a street address for Blacksuit.

Agree! These scammer scum are a real threat to the country. Taking them out would not only end their present day activities, it would remove them from being potentially involved in more serious future attacks. We don't hear about all the inept hackers because they don't have the skills. But these successful groups could leverage their abilities into deadly attacks. And they are almost certainly well connected to governments hostile to us. Taking them out would be a good thing.

Like the movie ‘The Beekeeper’, he targets hackers.

I don't disagree with you, but perhaps the real problem are those that have created a population of people who are 100% dependent upon something that's so vulnerable. It's going to be game over for a lot of people if the lights ever go out.

I’m less concerned about car dealers. That’s small time and just a text. My bigger concern is transportation infrastructure such as the FAA, trucking, railways. And then there is our electrical grid - a mashup of mid 1970’s technology that no one thinks about.

If you’ve never read it, One Second After about an EMP attack. Based on a real world study of the effects. Estimates are that 95% of the US population would be dead after one year.

The grid will go down, and it will be catastrophic. The earth's magnetic field is rapidly weakening as part of the periodic flipping of the magnetic field north/south. The magnetic field shields us from solar storms. Today it is weak enough that even a moderate solar storm direct hit will take out a lot of equipment. A strong storm will kill the grid, and it takes years to make new parts. Strong storms in the X10 or greater class are not rare.
