Curious about this.

In a city of 239,000 people,
What do we say to the
9000 people who are dependant on
on the jobs that Wal Mart and the like
provide?
And the 2,700 family members ?

What Americans should be doing and what is actually available to get done, is
A
a giant leap.

Point fingers all you want at big box stores and China,
But y'all know it's not that simple

Why is Amazon not required to say/print country of origin on the products they sell?

And it won't get easier and then there will be no other choice.

Walmart has a local foot print in the community with the jobs it provides. How about Amazons local foot print?

Personally- Walmart competes \ Amazon crushes then dominates. Walmart doesn't carry everything and competes in specific markets. Amazon uses predatory pricing to drive others out of the market then charges what it wants since the competition's gone.

Personally I haven't been into a Walmart in 20 years and only use Amazon when I get gift cards from work.

This price issue has been going on since, at least the 40's,

Americans refuse to work for $3.00 per day and other Americans refuse to pay $49.00 for a 7 inch dia. Desk top fan.

It's no different than the drugs and demand

Until the demand goes away,
Nothing will change.

Can't buy what they don't have.

Don't get me wrong, I will shop locally IF I think they have something in stock or their advertised price is too good not to make the trip. The exception is Green Top which is a somewhat local to me outdoor sporting goods store (guns, fishing gear and such). I will always try there before I go online to see if they have what I want.

Not many businesses offer much in the way of Made in USA/America products anymore, so that point is moot.

No need for me to pay locals more for the exact same PRC made junk when I can easily go online and get it for half their asking price. Business owners need to put their kids through dance class, not me. Some of you need to remember that money doesn't grow on trees and not everyone makes $100,000+/year. Paying a local 2x the price is just goofy, especially when that money could otherwise be used elsewhere (or reinvested in my family).

Going to copy a post from May of 2019 of an experience I had. I could post countless more examples if anyone would like.

Needed a bar, chain, spark plug, air filter, & fuel filter for an Echo CS-271T chainsaw that I bought new from the dealer 20 minutes from me.

Went something like this:
Go in

Wait in line for the parts guy (about 5 minutes while he's busy doing something else.)

Give him the parts numbers so he can get the stuff I need and ring it up

Him) "Nope, don't have that. Or that. Or that." "Let me check and cross reference to make sure they don't have new parts numbers"

Wait another 2-3 minutes while he does what he does...."No sir, we don't have any of those, but I can order them for ya"

ME) "WELL NO SHIT, SO CAN I. Amazon will have it all here in a day or two. Figured I'd give you a chance to make the money first. How long will it take you to get it?"

Him) "We'll have it next Friday."

ME) "A full 10 days. 10. 10 fucking days to get parts to a saw that you sold me? 10 days to get parts to a saw you still stock and sell everyone else!

Told the guy that I would never be back to spend another dollar there. Bottom line is I wasted an hour trying to do business with someone that didn't want my money Mad
