No news. No TV or current events. I'll just be spending time with my GF and my dog. There's a lot of yard work to be done and plenty of projects around the house. Lots of 19th Century novels to be read and music that needs to be listened to.

Catch y'all later!

The World Is Too Much With Us
William Wordsworth, 1770 - 1850

The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers,
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not.—Great God! I’d rather be
A pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathèd horn.

When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth. - George Bernard Shaw

l8r, d00d!

I know the feeling. I've bailed on Facebook entirely and I'm thinking about staying out of the lounge and foregoing the nightly "news."

Hitting burnout.

I recommend the following...
- a lake
- a boat
- beer
- a fishing pole
- tackle box

Fishing pole and tackle box are optional

Catch ya on the flip side. Just let us know your proper gender identity when you return. Razz

Actually, part of me wishes I'd done this 12 years ago. The other part knows I lost 10 years of having fun stuff under the Clinton AWB because I didn't pay attention for about 4 years before it.

Have fun, Jim. Looking forward to seeing you back here.

Right after the 2012 election I pulled the plug on TV and internet news for a year, severely curtailed the use of my email accounts and took a break from Sig Forum. It was one of the best things I've done to re-calibrate my brain and outlook on life.

I'd do that, too, but I'm afraid of what may happen while I'm gone. See you soon!

I left the whole cycle thing a few years back. Only SF to the greatest degree for much of the news or event type stuff. Even avoid the threads on here on such stuff for the most part. Has been soooo goood. So I hear ya. The GF, dog, and hopefully peace and quite of the place. Enjoy!
