I always used uBlock Origin (the free version) with chrome, but that was many years ago. I still use it on Firefox and it still performs well. It is not available for safari yet.

Pie Ad Blocker works well for me. Knocks down all those ads on You Tube and elsewhere. Some pages won't load because it blocks all the pop ups and ads but if I have to turn off an ad blocker to view the page it's not worth viewing it's all ads anyway.

I switched from Ublock Origin to AdGuard AdBlocker because it seems to do better blocking Youtube advertisements. Since then I also added Coffee Break to further assist with Youtube.
