konata88Screen protectors for new tablets?
New iPads seem to have an anti-reflective coating. Sounds nice but I generally use these things inside the house so glare hasn't been much of an issue for me.
Historically, I've used after market screen protectors (usually products made in Japan) for phone and tablet purchases.
I'm not sure what to do if I purchase a new iPad w/ the AR coating. On one hand, a screen protector will possible add glare (again, which typically hasn't been an issue for me) and erode the benefit of the native AR coating (and perhaps other functionality?). On the other hand, a screen protector seems to add protection against screen damage from falls.
I would buy a case for the iPad. And am considering Apple Care.
If I get Apple Care, I don't need the screen protector. But if I don't get Apple Care, what's the general trend for the new iPads? Use a screen protector or not needed?

Lefty SigI stopped using screen protectors on all devices in 2016 or so. They really are not needed. But I don't put car keys in my pocket with the phone either...

PrefontaineI put one on the phone/watch as soon as I take it out of the OEM package because they are mobile products that can be dropped, banged, etc.
Tablet (iPad) I don’t use it. But I do put a case on it and the keyboard I use protects it when folded. I don’t leave the screen opened.

konata88Thanks. I'll forego the screen protector for the iPad then. Still deciding on the applecare; seems pricey but these tablets are 4 figures. I've never bought any warranty for any product in my life. Not sure what's giving me pause now.

EdmondI buy Apple Care for my wife's Apple stuff. She wears through the electronics like she's a paid tester.

She's had 2 iPhones and a set of Apple Ear Pods replaced so far.

konata88Clarifying question: If the said iPad will be used with an apple pencil for drawing, etc, then is a (tempered ballistic glass) screen protector recommended?
On one hand, sounds like there is considerable abrasion with the pencil tips. On the other hand, perhaps drawing functionality will be affected by the screen protector between the ipad and the pencil. All of this is new to me so not sure which way to lean.
