CBS Local — According to a new study, bald really is beautiful. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have released the results of a survey that found that men who have shed their hair are more attractive.
The study was composed of three major tests given to students on campus. Male and female students were asked to rate photos of men according to attractiveness, confidence, and dominance. Some of the photos also digitally removed hair from some of the pictures to show the same person with and without their locks.
According to the researchers, the bald men won out in all three categories. The study also says men who willingly ditch their hair are perceived as more appealing because they’ve gone against the traditional norms associated with hair and vitality.
“Choosing to dispense with one’s hair is arguably a form of nonverbal behavior, a form of expression which communicates information about the self otherwise difficult to observe,” researchers write.
‘‘Anyone can be confident with a full head of hair. But a confident bald man—there’s your diamond in the rough.’’ — Larry David
The findings also claim that bald men, being perceived as more dominant, will do better in business and economically overall. Based on their study, researchers at Penn also suggest that men beginning to lose their hair just let it happen.
“Instead of spending billions each year trying to reverse or cure their hair loss, the counter-intuitive prescription of this research to men experiencing male pattern baldness is to shave their heads.”

H&K-GuyI dunno'.
I have long, luscious, luxuriant locks. Born with the right genes, I guess.
I would not like to be bald. I don't care what the University of Pennsylvania says.

WarhorseI am also bald. My hairline started to recede in high school, and has just made a steady progression throughout my whole lifetime.
It really has never bothered me much, sure at thirty five it bothered me a little, not enough to spend money trying to get hair back.

Now that I am approaching my mid sixties I could care less about it. Hey, it's who I am.

bald1Laughing that it took a study to confirm what I already knew.

My "widow's peak" started to recede significantly in high school and I ended up bald not that many years after.

r0gueHaving hair, and having hair that looks good are two different things. A great many men have hair, but for many reasons it may look bad, from just styling, to just plain bad hair. I had a pretty thick curly mess-o-hair. I could never figure out what to do with it. Then most of it fell out. I mow the surviving population as punishment for not preventing the egress of their brethren. I'm still a weird looking guy probably, but the hair is the least of my problems.
Incidentally, I've spent the second half of my life desperately trying to stay trim, as someone once told me,
"You can be bald, or you can be fat. But one should never be bald and fat". That'd always stuck with me. hehe

RogueJSKGood to know I made the right choice.

I've been shaving my head for ~10 years now. I like that it's low-maintenance and easy to keep looking professional. And even with the extra I spend on razors and sunscreen, it's cheaper than paying for regular haircuts.
But I'm lucky to have a head shape that looks good with no hair. Not everyone can pull off the Mr. Clean look.
