Dave BeanLimit of 250 people per day. Interesting. I remember the first one in Vegas was $50 per day, totally reasonable. Last year, it was Sig Day coordinated with the opening of the new retail location in NH for $100 per day. That was a bit much... but not outrageous.
For $500 a day, I'm expecting free ammo and a "full service" massage included, Sheesh!!!!!

old rugged crossUm, I would do it. A quality lunch is $50 or more. I could burn up $500 of ammo no problem. Shoot a machine gun. A gift bag. That does not seem all that bad. Sounds like a hoot. You guys are a stick in the mud.

Blume9mmthese kind of things gripe the heck out of me... my industries suppliers offer numerous classes which of course cost money... but if I was in management of one of these suppliers I would charge for the class but once you complete it you would get a certificate that you could use to buy product from me for the same amount you spent on the class... just figure out what your profit on the product is and charge an amount for the class that covers the cost.... Sig should do the same thing... charge a reasonable amount and then give out gift certificates for that amount for sig products.
$500 x 250 = $125,000

steve495I think there are discount coupons in the gift bag for the SIG online store and maybe something for the Academy, including classes or products. (I could be wrong.)
When the new Pro Shop opened in Epping, Bruce, Keith and I were speaking with Ron Cohen when he stopped by the Grayguns booth for a few minutes. He made it pretty clear he wanted to do more events similar to what was happening that weekend. (It was PACKED for the multi-day event.)
Of course, that event was free unless you wanted to shoot in the new indoor range, but he was committed to doing more SIG events to get products into the hands of people, not just distributors and dealers. The focus moved from events like SHOT to events like SIG Freedom Days.
$250k in gross revenue ($500 per person, per day) seems reasonable concerning the costs of running such an event. It's not a SIG shoot run by a few volunteers. They have quite a few staff members flying in, and they need cars and hotels. They have to feed the staff. They have to transport everything to and from the event. The cost of ammo. Cleanup. The food tents and catering... There may also be facility rental fees. Plus they have to get there at least one day early to set everything up and stay through part of the fourth day to get packed and out.

dking271If I was in the market for something from Sig and thought I would get $500 worth of value out of the event I would go. A class up in NH is on my radar and possibly an AXG P365 frame when they are released might be the only things I would even consider right now. I’m not terribly interested in anything new they offer. I can’t imagine I’d shoot enough to make it worth while. $500ish buys me 2k rounds of 9mm to train with at my range.

VoshterkoffYou can buy a pistol for $500, why would you pay that to go to a sales pitch?
November 16, 2023, 09:35 AM
HRKIt's all a matter of perspective...
Some people enjoy these events, since it's direct to consumer it's not like having an event for dealers.
Could be interesting, learning from others, commiserating, food, meeting celebrities, which are probably industry people.
Unlimited shooting, yeah any one of us could burn up $500 worth of ammo in no time.
