Literally, my dogs (130 & 90 lb Shepard/Malamute mix, and a dumbass Brittany) will get in line behind me, after being outside (walking or keeping me company) and whilst I am peeing, to drink out of the toilet... It's extremely funny because the Brittany is last and the bowl may be empty by the time he get his head in there.
AND - they have fresh water in two bowls to choose from otherwise. Butt nnoooo, gatta drink from the toilet. Maybe there are more smells and aromas to enjoy whole their heads are in there?

I've only had one dog who drank out of the toilet, and it was my Malamute. It started as she got into older age. The vet said that she was more comfortable with the easier access of the toilet, not having to lean all the way down to the water dish on the floor. We ended up buying elevated food and water dishes for her.
Dogs being interested in your urine is a sign that there may be sugar in it, a classic warning sign of diabetes. Not wishing anything on you, but it wouldn't hurt to get checked.

My brother has a little dog that likes to drink from the toilet while you're urinating. He will actually climb into the bowl to get at it, too. If I didn't know better I'd swear he was Bear Grylls' dog.
I have a hard time believing they like the actual urine. They could prefer, or be fascinated by, moving water. In the wild you don't want to drink out of a stagnant pool, you want to drink from a brook or stream. I'm sure there are water bowls out there that swirl the water around.

My brittany drinks from the toilet if he's thirsty and can't get to his bowl (at night he's in the room with us with the door closed.)
But he also drinks his own pee straight from the tap. He's 10 y.o. but he's done it forever. Vet says that's usually a sign of some health issue but he's never had a thing come up in his tests. Probably a habit he picked up crate training as a puppy before he could hold it well enough. He never took to a crate.
I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

That big bastard I have also likes to hydrate from what he considers his own porcelain water dish. His drinking out of the toilet is one thing, but since he's a hound (i.e. a complete slob), at least 25% of what he drinks runs right down his jowls and face and onto the tile floor. Nothing like getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and walking into cold water on the floor.

Ours did it once and the lids have since been kept closed for years. Now she will tell us when she wants fresh cool water from the bathtub faucet. She is big enough to reach it easily. She drinks from her water bowl but sometimes just wants the good stuff.

My lab never drank from the toilet but loved to drink from the tub faucet. He would go into the bathroom and stand next tot he tub. I would turn on the water and he would gulp it down. Used to love to drink from a hose also.

My little girl doesn't drink from the toilet. I keep a large SS bucket full of cool clean water at all times. She does however like to drink from the bucket in the sink as its filling. Goes straight down the throat. She also likes the cool water from the hose when we are watering plants outside.
