I had a procedure last year that is very similar to a vasectomy. I followed the Dr’s instructions for about a day and a half, then I went out back to try to help my other half with a project and to talk to my neighbor cause I was feeling pretty good. Huge mistake. I ended up in the ER. The ER Dr. told me to lay on my back with orders to get up for nothing but to go to the bathroom for at least one week. The pain from my stupid ignore Dr’s orders was far more painful than the surgery. It was more like a week and a half of staying on my back in bed. ER Dr said it was a blood clot. My regular Dr called it a hematoma. Either way, it was very painful. Have your wife bring you ice when you need it, and you will need it.

My doctor said "Don't worry you're just being changed from a working model to a sports model".
