Well technically, didn't they stop using it pretty much all together?

Well, at least he drives an electric car so he doesn't have to feel bad about using a fuel (which some have said is) made from dead dinosaurs.

The chickens and birds in general are descendants of the dinosaurs.

We must give the land back to the birds and the chickens.

Can we offer it to both, but then crawfish on the chickens and fry them all?

I'm sure there are parts of this land that would gladly give back to them.

I know your post was in jest but I don’t think a guy with 3 Gulfstreams and a Falcon 900 is worried about dinosaurs. And yes, I know he was just tweaking the libs and I love it.

Study the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the events orbiting it. You’ll see that what was Mexico that is now the United States was bought from Mexico. We conquered it and could have just kept it but we paid millions in 1800s dollar value for it. If anyone stole that land it was Spain via Hernan Cortez and the other guy who’s name escapes me.

The Oregon Territory was claimed and controlled by the Brits. and ceded to the US in the treaty of 1846. If anyone stole that land it was the British.

We bought a huge swath of land in the Louisiana Purchase from the French. If anyone stole that it was those French types who will taunt you another time. The territory of the 13 colonies was settled by England. The king was an A hole so the colonists revolted and created a sovereign land. If anyone stole that land it was the British.

Florida was settled by the Spanish via Ponce de Leon in the 1500s. It was ceded to the US as part of settling a dispute involving Texas something or other. I forget the details. If anyone stole that land it was Spain.

That leaves with a section of land from Alabama to the Upper Peninsula West of the 13 colonies and East of the Louisiana Purchase. While not exactly part of the original 13, it was land claimed and controlled by the British and lost in the revolutionary war.

There are a few smaller territories acquired by purchase like the Gadsden purchase from Mexico but they were none of them just taken from the natives.

It's a joke, y'know? A joke. Ever heard of jokes?

There is not a single serious thing in Musk's tweet, nor my posting of it.

Can't we just pay reparations instead?

I know Elon is joking. I just detailed it because most people accept guilt from agitators and invaders that our land was illegitimately taken. It wasn’t. None of it was. Not by us.

Do you think that when I post a joke, I am looking for facts to be posted? What effect on threads intended to be lighthearted do you think posting dry facts or serious comments might have on the thread?

I apologize for the wet blanket. I have enjoyed your light hearted posts before and should have understood sooner what I was reading. Let me know what you’d like me to do from here. Thank you.

ETA: I’ll check back every so often to see if you respond, Parabellum.

That's a funny punchline. LOL.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
