Has anybody ever hiked this trail which is 75 miles long?

Highlights: Chinese Wall, Red Butte, White River Pass, Haystack Mountain, Larch Hill Pass, My Lake

Night 0: Benchmark Campground, Night 1: Indian Creek, Night 2: Haystack mountain junction, Night 3: Brushy Park, Night 4: My Lake, Night 5: Indian Creek, Day 6: Exit at Benchmark trailhead

This trail is an ambitious 75 mile loop through unexpectedly spectacular Bob Marshall Wilderness. The distance alone on this trail will test your backpacking skills and fitness, but the rewards are spectacular. Our entire group agreed that this trail offers National Park level views, with the benefit of not requiring a permit as of our hike in Summer 2021 (we expect that to change).

Wish I'd known about that 50 years ago, I would have liked to have hiked it.

We did hike it 50 years ago. Summer of 73. The Bob was different back then, but then so was the whole state.

I'll never forget my brother getting a lesson in thermals on that trip in there when he decided to pee over the edge. Big Grin

Pretty much the same I did but spread it over 7 days

Beautiful hike. Yes, it will test your skills but not extremely so

Be flexible on camp sites since horse/mule packers will sometimes use the same areas. The dung stench can be overwhelming. They will be getting the outfitter areas ready for fall hunting season

I too wish I had known 50 years ago ... and thought the same when ggile commented thinking the trail was much different back then.

As the only Asian in Montana, it's not racist. If they said it was a Wall of Chinese, then maybe.

The Bob is absolutely stunning. If out of Staters keep coming, I'll probably squat at that site and claim it as my own and start a cult, Far Cry 5 style, hehehe.
