I had the chance to see evening to interact with a young man whose father was killed while I was working I am trying to get him in touch with and Omsbudsman To facilitate bringing his other brother over from Kuwait for the dads funeral does anyone have any experience of how to expedite that or how to get a hold of an arms omsbudman thanks, shawn Semper Fi, ---->>> EXCUSE TYPOS<<<---

Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. |
This should be a no brainer. I believe the Red Cross takes care of this. If a member of the Congressional delegation gets involved it will reflect badly on the uncooperative command.

That’s kind of the way I recall it I just remember that those guys were basically a point of contact to help facilitate things particularly when servicemen were overseas with an emergency back home I could not remember if they were a national organization or if they were specific to each individual command at a division level thanks, shawn Semper Fi, ---->>> EXCUSE TYPOS<<<---

If you know the unit or base that he is assigned to, you can do an internet search for that. Usually there will be a generic .mil page with the specifics of that command and will list the omsbudsman and other pertinent information.

In my time, 1966-1992 the only way that we could grant emergency leave was after the Red Cross got involve. as a minimum they had to officially confirm the emergency. Don't figure much has changed so first stop I would recommend is the Red Cross. Freedom comes from the will of man. In America it is guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment

What is his parent unit? If the brother is in Kuwait, he is most likely Temporary Assigned Duty (TAD) away from his parent command. Not many actual full Navy Commands/Units in Kuwait. Going the Red Cross route used to be the standard for verification purposes, but it has some communications drawbacks that will slow the process. In this day and age, a Good CO/CMC Is going to be able to easily and quickly verify the family situation and make what needs to happen, happen. If you know the parent command he is attached to, they will usually have a website or a facebook page that will list contacts to include the Ombudsman or the Command Master Chief (Senior Enlisted). _____________________________________________ Never use more than three words to say "I don't know"

Go ahead punk, make my day |
Yeah, the Ombudsman can help but you'll need a Red Cross message to be sent typically, especially if he's TDY or mobilized to a different command.

Red Cross. Once they verify the information, they will act quickly.

Better Than I Deserve! |
I'm retired after 26 years in the Navy and has been said...the ombudsman is not going to be able to facilitate this. The American Red Cross is the one that handles these issues. The ombudsman is a liaison between dependents and the command, they are not for the service member to use. ____________________________ NRA Benefactor Life Member GOA Life Member Arizona Citizens Defense League Life Member
