a crazed buddy artist/photographer/electrical engineer/visionary used to draw morphed female figurines using techniques he called extrapolative and interpolative bodacification.....
progressively altered stylized body shape morphing, done by hand in a pre-computer frenzy.
Sitting in the cafeteria between classes one day circa 1965 he drew a series of sketches showing how to land a 'surveying robot' on Mars, that eventually was published as the 'bouncing balloon across the terrain' approach.

It would help to see the sentence that you'd like to use it in--the context would assist in the search.
"Extrapolate" is the act of extending the range of a set of data by following the trend set by the existing points.
"Interpolate" is the act of obtaining a value intermediate between existing data points by approximating where along the curve the new point would be.
What is the process you want to describe with the word you seek?
