“How can an officer of the law do that?”

They were not cops, they were security guards. This is a little peek at what the fruits of socialism will look like.

Not sure the relevance of if he was a cop or not, I think since she believes he was a cop, and she was there, I'll take her word.

The scary part is not his title, it's that someone can be removed from a free, public, open space due to their beliefs. Even scarier if she's not actively talking about them. It is a little more worrisome if it's a cop like she says.

The relevance is that a security guard is sworn to uphold a paycheck and whatever their employer says to uphold. There is a difference. And for the record, I’ll be the first to call out another actual officer that does something just because he or she is told to.

“I think since she believes he was a cop, and she was there, I'll take her word.”

Watch the entire vid. The guy with her says the guys identified themselves as private security.

I believe they were actual police working private security alongside some regular private security. As they are escorted to the parking lot you can even see all of their police cars and a third party explaining they although they are the police they are subject to the desires of those who hired them to work that event.

It's not their fault they were instructed to do what they did.

Just because there are cruisers in the parking lot does not mean they are the cops that drive them. They might have been posted outside for "taxpayer provided security". Happens quite a bit. Also, I am highly doubtful that cops would moonlight at any event out of uniform, without defensive equipment (other than handcuffs) (2nd guy) and still driving official vehicles. The first guy has some gear, but no official markings/patches, and no duty belt.

You can clearly see "------Security" on his shirt. I cannot make out the first word in the shitty vid, but everything about these guys says security guards, not cops.

Wasn’t this a private event - i.e., paid for by the Sanders campaign? His event, his rules. She couldn’t just show up for someone’s wedding. Isn’t this the same kind of thing?

Sanders is a God Damned Commie to put it in JALLEN’s terms. So screw him and everyone there. I hope the GDC gets run over by a truck and dies a slow painful death. GDCs aren’t human so don’t give me shit about saying that.

Was a public event, according to his web site.

Nope. Event was free and advertised as 'open to the public' - here's the pic of the invitation, from the zerohedge article:

Two points:
1. His own website called it a public event. Nevertheless, yes, it was paid for by the Sanders campaign and therefore a private event even if he claimed it was open to the public.

2. Still, the young woman used it as an opportunity to highlight the differences between a 'right wing' Trump rally, where the left wing reporters who behave are ALWAYS welcome to be there. But the intolerant bigots on the left just can't handle diversity of thought or opinion.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

It doesn't matter what Bernie Sanders calls it.

Because Schenley Plaza is a public park the courts will consider it a traditional public venue.

Speech restrictions (much less thought restrictions) in a traditional public forum that are not content or viewpoint neutral will receive strict scrutiny.

Speech in traditional public venues can only be restricted by reasonable time, place and manner restrictions (TPM).

You don't really have a Constitutional argument if you're tossed out by a private security guard, but if gov't agencies are involved, there's potential for a case here.

Who cares the public/private nature, or sworn officer vs hired security. The point is that they same people who complained about Acosta putting his hands on a intern and his general lack of decorum being uninvited to attend press releases. With cause he was asked to leave and it's a constitutional crisis. A conservative reporter who was acting well behaved is removed due to her different view point.

Fucking hypocrites.

thats a pretty thin excuse - just following orders

I seem to recall, even though I wasn't there, that it didn't work out so well for the Germans that tried that line of reasoning during Nuremberg

Wow! Someone needs to corner Bernie and pin his ears to the wall on this one. Caitlin wasn't even up interviewing anyone or doing anything else that could be construed as creating a problem.

The upside is that these abject morons (and yes, that red headed bastard in the wannabe cop attire included) created a press incident that they didn't need to create, and that will run on conservative media and the web for days exhibiting the retarded, socialist, behavior of these ass clowns.

Can a cop violate his oath to the PD to follow instructions of an off-duty employer? I don't think so.
