How about $70,000 a year for an attendant?

Mayor London Breed last year announced the formation of a special six-person "poop patrol" team where each cleaner earns more than $70,000 a year.

Holy Crap... pun intended.

Sounds like a shitty job but someone's gotta do it.

Situation awareness is defined as a continuous extraction of environmental information, integration of this information with previous knowledge to form a coherent mental picture in directing further perception and anticipating future events. Simply put, situational awareness mean knowing what is going on around you.

$70k sounds like a lot, until you remember that San Francisco has the second highest cost of living in the whole country.

Average rent for an apartment in SF is $4,000 per month… That's over 2/3rds of your $70k/year income you'll be spending on rent alone, not counting any of the other inflated cost of living expenses for California in general and San Francisco in particular.

$70k is still $2k below the average income for California as a whole, and $27k below the average income for specifically San Francisco.

So $70k to clean up poop in an area with a normal living cost would be really good.

But $70k to clean up poop while living in a 400 square foot efficiency apartment, eating ketchup sandwiches, and walking to work doesn't sound so appealing.

It's not about the numbers on your paycheck or bank account. It's about your actual purchasing power. (Much like the reality of a $15 minimum wage.)

Correct. The city has created a problem, instead of dealing with it directly, they've slapped a band-aid over it and presto! created a jobs program. Those jobs need to be paid reasonable wages in order to attract and retain 'responsible & qualified' workers (felons on parole) ergo, $70k is reasonable. Would be interesting to see what something comparable is in NYC

Just wait 'til they insist that all members of the poop patrol have to live in the City and County of San Francisco so all that money "gets spent within the community".

Regarding the potential living expenses, they simply want their dog walkers, barristas, attendents, etc sleeping 15-20 to a a living space. They don't expect them to live the American Dream. Then all that extra income can go to Mexico or overseas.

I live an hour away but I take the train into the city every day. So cheaper rents are available. That’s 70k bade pay before the union rules about OT and such are factored in. Typical crap scraper will be knocking back 100k easy once they learn to game the system properly. Do that for 25 years and then collect your city pension ? What a country.

6 workers in a city that size? They could work 24/7 and never keep up.

Overtime baby! Soon fecal attendants will make the lis tof public officials who abuse overtime policies. It wouldn't surprise me to discover this $70K job turns into $150-200K with OT and other perks.

I’d like to know how “diverse” those six will be. With so few, they might have to double up on some of the LGBQ...whatever combinations in order to appease the PC believers!

The "Wall Spray" has become popular in our area. Even in smaller towns.

A compact truck, solution tank, generator, pressure washer, insurance, license, contract. Easy path to riches for the contractor. $40M / year for a fleet of 320 operators.

$70k per year has its costs ...

No shit?

$70K salary, $25K for medical/dental insurance, 3% matching 401K. overtime, sensitivity training, etc.

This is easily a $100K job for the taxpayers.

Salary level aside - fucking sad that they even need these jobs.

Hello San Francisco - what the fuck do you think are you doing wrong?

For all the academic achievements in the area, they certainly are clueless.
