Many shootings in Memphis in one night.
Seems gunfire happened a lot.

This was featured in our local news channel's website.

I think the tally on interstate shootings is up to 38 this year.

https://wreg.com/2019/10/23/re...240-at-walnut-grove/

Glen Cofield was killed this year and Phil Trenary last year. Both of these guys were high profile people in Memphis killed in random robberies.

https://wreg.com/2019/05/30/tw...der-of-phil-trenary/

One of my wife's friends lost a son (Jack) in a robbery recently.

Memphis has always sucked, but generally it was drug dealers and gang bangers killing each other. The bulk of the shooting / killing it still is gang related. What has changed here for the worse are examples of what I listed above. The hood rats aren't just shooting each other anymore, they shoot at anyone/everyone for any given thing at any given time.

Prisons have become housing districts.
To go to home where warm regular meals, bedding, roof over head is furnished & some of the responsibility of managing life is eased ....IS A DRAW NIT A DETERRENT ....

It's pretty much the same thing here.
Years ago, you stayed out of the hood, you were ok. Now, the Savages are migratory. They're headed downtown and to other parts of the City and causing problems and crime.

We also never really had a problem with expressway shootings. It's just something that didn't happen. Then WHAMMO... about 3 years ago, we had one, the media was all over it, and that's all she wrote: it was the cool thing to do!

Sadly, Memphis is not alone. We have seen the violence escalating in so many of our formerly great cities.

It will only get worse as we slide farther down the path of socialism. Government programs become "entitlements" creating "entitled" people who become envious because the "entitlements" are never enough. Envy is the seed of socialism. The Democrat Party stokes the envy in people for votes.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

<<< Tis me.

Unfortunately Memphis is trying her best to regain the title of "Deadliest City," but like most other things she can't get that right, either.

Ah, brings back fond memories of working in John Gaston Hospital ER on Saturday nights. The Memphis Knife & Gun Club is apparently still open for membership.

The Med is still a fertile training ground for the medical profession. I've read that if it weren't for the trauma center at the Med the murder rate here would be much, much higher.

I learned more about trauma management there than combat medicine, substantially from a senior staff surgery resident we called "The Prince of Darkness" (tall African-American dude, with a couple of bullet holes in the sleeve of his lab jacket) who knew more about gunshot wounds than I ever will, or hope to know. Sad to hear it hasn't improved.

And now with "Criminal Justice Reform", there are no consequences for actions. In a couple years every city that has a DA spouting progressive ideas and reform will be that much closer to full on "Mad Max" or "Escape From New York" time.

I could post similar reports about shootings in my nearby small south central city, Danville.

Population around 43,000, but ranks second behind Petersburg in violence, especially shootings. Doing a search will confirm that it is a small city in decline. It is not the city of my childhood.

I can only imagine the level of shootings in a larger city such as Memphis.

With the loss of the Dan River mills and the people that worked and live that life.

Certainly sad to see such a good community get cast to the wind and replaced by the mess that it has become.

It has become what I call an entitlement city. The local hospitals emergency clinic on a Friday night always has several gunshot wound gangbangers there.

A few years back a well liked doctor was walking home from his shift at the hospital, where he was accosted by two thugs, one shot him. This was just a block away from the hospital.

He survived, mbut has been in fragile health since then. The suspects have never been found.

Portland, Oregon had seven separate shootings this past weekend. Five in just four hours.
