how do you open a zip file sent to you in am email in Windows 7
and yes I know w7 is unsupported. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I think you need to save the attachment as a separate file and use unzip to extract everything.

I think my file manager in W7 can actually unzip files on its own

Correct. W7 has native support of compressed files.
But think of an attachment as something in a bag within the email file. must save it first outside that bag in order to be able to handle it properly.

Save it to your local drive and then just double click it and it'll open. W7 has a native unzipper.

Dude,

Be careful the file is not a virus that is zipped to hide it's identity and payload. Once you get the file saved to a location, move it to a separate machine with anti-virus software and run it there.

This was SOP when I worked for Ontrack Data.

Can't be to careful.
