When I click on a thread title its color changes from black to red. That makes it easier to identify a thread that I want to follow.

But too often I accidentally click a thread title of little interest to me. Its color will revert to black after a few weeks, but I’d like to know if there’s any way to blacken it immediately.

Clear cookies and history. My browser is set up to clear cookies and history every time it's exited. Every time I start my browser all threads are black.

Some sort of CSS management or Hyperlink management Add-On for your browser, I'm sure. I don't know of one off hand, and a quick Google Search didn't yield an answer.

I'll keep thinking about it and poke around some more. I'm pretty sure I'm not finding it because I'm not yet phrasing my search quite the right way. Something along the lines of Managing URL Visit Status or the like will be the answer, or Toggling Hyperlink Color, etc.

CSS (cascading style sheets) along with HTML is definitely how they're defined, along with how the Browsers are built in the first place, and manipulating the CSS of a given page is definitely the answer in a technical sense. I could easily write some JavaScript to facilitate this, but it wouldn't be very user friendly and surely it's been done before and exists as an Extension or Add-on, so I'll keep kicking it around and hopefully I'll find it later today or this weekend.

It's defined in the hyperlink :visited pseudo-class in SIGforum's style sheet. The browser considers a link visited if it's in your browser history and it applies the :visited class.

It should revert to black if you remove that page from your browser history. Should.

This is actually quite easy to do if you are using Chrome. Hit Ctrl+Y (or Cmd+Y on a Mac) to open your history. Simply select the links you've visited that you want to delete, delete them, and now the links show as 'unvisited' on you web pages.
