iCloud and iPhone question? Experts please!
OK. I know there are Apple forums but a seldom get real world advice from such high end users. My friends at Sigform have never let me down on giving good advice!

Mrs. Angus needs a new iPhone. We share an iCloud account, which as you know, can create problems. We also both have MacBooks. One on our joint iCloud account and one on a new iCloud account. See the summary table below (I know, I'm an engineer).

Mrs. Angus iPhone: iCloud Account A
Mrs. Angus MacBook: iCloud Account B

Angus iPhone: iCloud Account A
Angus MacBook: iCloud Account A

I want to convert Mrs. Angus iPhone to iCloud Account B. My goal is as follows:

Mrs. Angus iPhone: iCloud Account B
Mrs. Angus MacBook: iCloud Account B

Angus iPhone: iCloud Account A
Angus MacBook: iCloud Account A

Can I backup Mrs. Angus' iPhone on iCloud Account A and restore new iPhone on iCloud Account B using her MacBook?

Or more specifically, how can I restore her photos, contacts, calendar, and notes on her new iPhone?

Thanks!

Do a complete back up of her old phone to your computer using iTtunes, then restore from computer backup to new iPhone.

That's what I did when I got my new iPhone 12.

After that you can carry on as normal, backing up to account A if you wish.

^ I don't think that will work. Her iPhone will be on Account B.

Yes, you are correct, the restore will reinstate the AppleID association that was backed up. You might want to consider taking both the wife's old and new phones to the Apple Store nearest you and ask a "Genius" to do it.

Once the old phone is backed up to your computer, restore new phone from computer. Give it a different name to old phone's name in phone settings. Make sure it's signed in (on the phone) to Mrs Angus's account B. Authorize it on account B.

I would do that (go to the Apple store and let them help) and also just set another I-cloud account for one of you. They are so cheap it's worth it going forward to not have to deal with stuff like this since you both have separate devices anyway.

This, boys and girls, is one example of why individuals should always have their own accounts--be it iCloud or otherwise.

Angus the Kid, y'all can get live help from Apple without going to an Apple store. And, unlike many places, when you place a request for such help they: 1. Tend to respond very quickly (w/in minutes, if not seconds) and 2. Are actually usually helpful.

I think Mrs. AtK may be screwed wrt keeping what's on her phone on her phone, though. Painful though that will be, best rip that band aid off now and be done with it.

I agree with ensigmatic. Unfortunately have had several occasions recently to use Apple's chat and phone service, and they have responded extremely quickly, and sent the issues up the line until they were resolved satisfactorily.
