I've been unable to find a local (within 150 miles) source of a quality leather couch/recliner that isn't powered. I couldn't even order one from any of the 3 furniture stores in my area. Of course I could have tried Fred Meyer and Walmart...but I wanted real leather.

I've had 2 sets now with the electric motor.

I like the ease, and the new set has not just reclining but also the back comes up to support a seated upright position with the legs out. I like that. My current set is two recliners and a love seat (which is just two recliners smashed together without a middle arm rest. The leather is a neutral grey, with a hint of blue. I think it was called "Slate". I have just under $5K in the set (purchase price with a 10% military discount). I got my insurance to cover it, as my previous set was damaged in a septic flood. It was the most expensive furniture I could find, and the leather actually feels decent.

I don't get the impression the motor and mechanical linkages will last forever. The chairs are real wood (not particle board), and mostly metal. They're heavy. THe one I sit in (I weigh 250 lbs and I'm 6') complains often.

I think I have a 1 year warranty. I have a feeling I'll be replacing the motor at about 13 months...

One thing to note...it does suck when the power goes out. There is no manual way to retract them, and getting in and out when reclined is a great way to damage them. We had a 12 hour outage recently...and 3 of the chairs were fully reclined. We could barely walk in our living room. It's something to consider.

That's actually been a problem for us also. When someone knocks on the door it takes so long to get the chair retracted that they've left by the time I can get there.

On second thought....maybe that's a "feature"?

I don't have cool pockets in mine, so I still have to use my table next to the recliner. I keep an Alaskan appropriate shotgun at the front and rear doors anyway.

I see Costco has what looks to be a nice leather Barcalounger on sale $200.00 off.

My brother has purchased four chairs and three box spring mattresses from them in four years ,always pleased.

My wife loves hers. However, we have the occasional power outage and then it’s hell getting out of the ting.
Plus one of my corgis sounds off when she presses the button. Oddly she doesn’t do it when I use it (smart dog)
