I want to get a canister of pepper-based bear spray for the car.

Ideally one with a means to lock it open and spraying.

Please offer your recommendations.

Agree.....Counter Assault is made right here in Montana. Lots and lots of grizzlies. I’ve got 2 friends who wished they’d carried it.

Just FYI, extreme heat will cause problems for pepper spray that is stored in a vehicle. Ask me how I know.

This is what I was thinking as well....I also wondered whether it would blow up.

Can you elaborate? will the propellent slowly leak out over time due to pressure, or just catastrophically purge all at once?

I've kept a 1.5oz Fox Labs spray in the car center console year-round for a couple years now, and it does get really hot.
