(spent a year there and still did a lot of DoD work afterwards), most wouldn’t even tell you what they really did (maybe you’d get a reply like “signals” for Usasoc), but not even area of ops. Navspecwarcom you can kind of figure out because teams by # usually serve in a particular geography ... but marsoc, jsocs and afsoc just really don’t talk outside of work.

sidss1Friends, this is the update. This situation has happened in a Mormon Church. I went to our local leaders, and gave them the emails that I got from the Universities he claimed to have gotten his degrees at, and the official emails that I got from the VA, saying that he was not currently, and never ever has been a VA employee.
The Leaders looked at the stuff, and said nothing, and last Saturday, on March 16th, they baptised him, and on Sunday, the had the confirmation ceremony. Mind you, the guy insisted on wearing his hat through the entire Baptism ceremony, even when he was fully immersed in the Baptismal Font.
Later on, I asked if the emails I had submitted meant nothing, the Leader and his assistants, just kept humming-and hawing, and they wouldnt look me in the eye and give me a straight answer.
I have decided to keep my counsel to myself, and let the Leaders act like the effeminate, know nothings, lacking any courage kind of men they have proved themselves to be.

I also don't understand them not insisting on counseling along with, or prior to, the baptism. He has to admit his sins before he can truly become a Christian. It doesn't sound like he has faced himself in this regard.

rusbroHopefully they have a plan to work with him, to help him improve, or get help. It's possible they're not saying anything out of a feeling of confidentiality, though they could have handled it better.
I completely understand wanting to put as much distance between phony and/or unstable people and oneself, but if even churches reject those folks, the world is a worse place for all of us.

striker1As a rule, churches should be very mindful about those who would potentially join the membership.
Churches often fall prey to hustlers who are very good at their craft. In particular, I think it's naive and irresponsible to help someone with a large amount of financial assistance who has not been vetted. That's nothing less than poor stewardship of benevolence funds.
That's not to say that almost anyone (unless dangerous) shouldn't be allowed in to hear the preaching, because they certainly could be changed and benefit greatly from that.

Because the SF-wannabe is a liar and trying to - well already has - work his way into sidss1 community of people. You may not care if liars, cheats, and thieves insinuate themselves into your life, but many of us do and try to prevent it from happening.

sidss1Bob- I understand what you mean. But as others have said, this guy seems to be some kind of a hustler and a scumbag. My reason for getting involved is not to reform him, but to expose a potential scam that might victimize members of our congregation.
In my time as a member of the Church since the mid 1990's I have seen a couple of scumbags create havoc with the lives of fellow members of my congregation. A slick guy from once came in , became a "valued" member of the congregation and then proceeded rip off a few people out of their life savings. And, then, if you remeber the Oklahoma City Bombing, the infamous "Mark from Michigan" fella was also a member of my Ward until the FBI arrested him and put him into a Federal Correctional facility in Florence, Colorado.
