Ok, its nearly 2-hours now and the idiot of the neighborhood (there's one in every 'hood), has been running his leaf blower over his front yard. This yard is not that big, probably 300 sq ft, include the side areas its maybe 400 sq ft total. WTF!?!?!

Do I march down there and inquire as to why he's running his blower for hours in the morning?

Is there an ironic/satirical manual on how to use a leaf blower? In a passive-agreesive way I can hand it to him.

Re: "I wish it could be louder."

Apparently my new Echo PB-8010H backpack leaf blower is pretty dang loud. Both my wife and my neighbor to one side mentioned it.

Sure does blow leaves like there's no tomorrow--I'll say that Big Grin

Anyone who lives in an apartment in Tucson will agree those leaf blowers are a nuisance. The grounds crews generally come around at 7am to wake us.

Suggest he use it to dry his car. It will ruin the paint finish.

Most of the contracted landscapers/gardeners know to get the blowing over with fast. This guy is either deaf or, completely clueless in how to blow leaves into a pile than, rake-up the pile into the can. This guy has zero clue how to heard leaves... Roll Eyes

It couldn't have been me. I'm usually done in 20 minutes tops with my backpack blower. Leaves me more time with the string trimmer and chainsaws.

With a yard that small, 2-hours is ridiculous.

My problem is trash can capacity. I get yard-waste pickup once a week, limit of 10 cans.
That's about enough to do my driveway... Roll Eyes but the yard is still full. We have a lot of big, old oak trees.

Today it's raining, and anything I didn't get into cans is going to be wet and heavy.

I remember a rake. In fact some upscale communities prohibit leaf blowers due to their noise. My lawn guy mulches them with his mower. Chainsaws are necessary, leaf blowers are not.

Damn I just got in from blowing leaves for the past 2 hours. Well we have a lot of leaves and a large yard. I really couldn't care less what my neighbors think. He uses his power equipment plenty also. Gotta get the leave somewhere.

+1 on the Huh?

Watch a little YouTube snd you’ll see that some of the most anal retentive detailers blow dry their car. One of the benefits of a modern SiO2 sealant or ceramic coating is the extreme water beading and sheeting.

Blowing sand and what not into the finish. It is fine to do in an enclosed garage.

The major task of using cordless blower is blowing away leaves in your yard. It isn’t mending for drying your prestigious car. Due to their powerful nature of blowing debris, it creates a lot of dust around which may eventually stick on your vehicle making it dirtier.

I think I would have been very tempted to hand him a rake and ask him to try this much quieter, "green" solution.

Yes they are ! I looked at several brands, and ended up with a Stihl. Wanted the quietest I could get.

Btw, the older walk behind blowers are even louder than backpacks. Neighbor 4 doors away has one that sounds like it's made by Pratt & Whitney.

Clearly you either live in an area without deciduous trees and bushes that shed their leaves in the fall, or you don't have many in or around your yard.

We live on an acre, of which about 25,000 sqft. is manicured lawn and gardens. We have several mature deciduous trees and bushes, and, given we're in a semi-rural area, are surrounded by many, many trees.

I shudder to thing how long fall leaf cleanup would take w/o the commercial grade lawn equipment we have--including one serious backpack leaf blower.

The leaf blower is used to get 'em out of the corners and gardens, and into the main part of the lawn. There they are picked up and shredded by by mower and, along with grass clippings, are dumped into the gardens for winter mulch.

Even with having one of the most powerful backback leaf blowers on the market today, the leaf blowing part took most of the time.

Are you a shift worker who needs to sleep late? If so, have you nicely mentioned it to your neighbor and requested he do his leaf blowing later in the day?

I've got a neighbor like that. Nice guy, but evidently just doesn't have a powerful enough blower for his yard. I've been tempted to get out the little Deere and ride it over there. I could mow across his leaves in about 20 minutes, and he'd have a small pile of crumbs when I was finished (rather than a big pile of leaves).

It's how I treat the leaves in my yard....

God bless America.
