Need to ship a gun to Houston. Who is the best/easiest to deal with?
Buddy deals with Collectors in Houston but they have no mention of receiving transfers. Plus they look pretty big. Looking for a small easy shop to deal with.

Thanks

10ring.com in NW Houston.
Small place that's been around forever. Nicest down to earth folks. They're open 7 days a week. $20 a transfer.

The Houston Metropolitan area is huge. It's the size of Connecticut. You really need to narrow down which part of Houston or you could be signing someone up for a hell of a drive.

Two options in the northern suburbs:
  • I usually use Warthog Firearms in Spring. I like the owner plus it's nearby one of the Top 10 BBQ joints in Texas (i.e. win win). They do $25 transfers.
  • I haven't used them, but one of the guys I shoot with likes ESAD Arms in The Woodlands. They do $20 transfers.

77024 is the zip code if that helps.

Also sounds like he is fairly close to Collectors possibly.

I use these guys, who are a little north of I10 on the west side of town. They are good folks, and charge a fair fee.

Collectors is also near me, but I don't know if they do transfers. It is a fun store to visit. They have lot of stuff and a good selection of oddballs, antiques, military weapons, and things not in the usual retail gun store.

Unless they keep it a secret, Collectors Firearms do not appear to accept transfers. A look at their website has zero mentions of FFL transfers. Sure, they sell and ship to your FFL, but I see nothing about accepting incoming transfers.

I checked the FFL finder on gun broker earlier, for whatever good that is, and it said $20 for handgun or long gun.

OP, give them a call and see what they say. It was the 3rd shop that popped up for me by the zip code.

My buddy said when he was over there they mentioned about doing a lot of transfers but no details. My buddy is new to this stuff as he did not listen to me and get while the gettin’ was good. Now he is playing catch up.
And I am trying to walk him through the process over the phone.

The one that JHE listed is really close to that zip code.

You definitely don't want to use the two I listed.

Appreciate the offer but sounds like he is a ways away from Friendswood.

You folks really need to update your website, then. Is there a reason whoever in charge of Collectors' website made no mentions of the transfer service?

    Thanks.
Seems like all the folks I have been trying to get to buy guns for years all now want to buy guns and of course can’t find what they are looking for close to them.

Assuming OP's friend lives in center of zip code the OP posted:
  • Heading south: Collector's Firearms is ~11 minutes, mrvmax is ~45 min, and the place maxwayne recommended is ~60 min.
  • Heading north: the place JHE linked is ~11 minutes, the place 12131 listed is ~30 minutes, and the 2 places I listed are 35 to 40 minutes.

    Thanks folks.
Collectors had a Hellcat he ended up getting that.
He was wanting a 365Xl which he can’t find down there and I had one up here. I do like the Hellcats but they are hens teeth up here.
