I loved my Crosstrek, but yeah, loud as well when you asked it for power. And mine was the early gen, which had less to give. 0 to 5 Mph instantly, 5 to 60 eventually. I'd buy another. The Outback just doesn't make sense for me. It seems too big. I like the Forrester better. Taller greenhouse. I hate their new dashboard/control suite.

I kind of wanted to move from the crosstrek to the 260 turbo Outback. I test drove them when my sister was looking for her new car. Drive great. I’m sure it still does. That new styling though. Ugh.
I also never understood the CVT angst. I’ve had 4 cars in the last 10ish years. 3 Subarus and 1 Toyota. The Toyota did not have a CVT the Subie’s did. The Toyota transmission was not even close to being as enjoyable as the 3 CVT Subaru ones were. Every time the Toyota shifted you knew it, you felt it, it didn’t always seem to be at the correct time. The CVT? You never know because it’s just shifting away and you are in the dark which is a good thing.
Disclaimer: I am not a car enthusiast. At all. I could drive very expensive cars and instead I choose a car that if it got totaled I could easily scribble a check and get a new one. To me I like that. Writing a check for what some of you guys drive would feel like surgery without anesthesia. A 30k car feels like the sweet spot. To me. Scratches don’t bother me, park wherever I want, etc. I also like Subaru’s CVT.

I lost a host of other niceties as well. Passive unlock, heated mirrors, remote start. Even the trunk hatch unlock doesn’t work on my Outback remote. Apparently that was only for those who paid for the power trunk feature. I’m my mind, at least it should release the hatch. The only way to open my hatch is to unlock all doors and then you can open it manually. I dont like the power hatches to begin with but I think it should unlock it. Heck, there’s not even a button inside the vehicle to pop the hatch.
I do have a two car garage but since I leave first in the morning, I’m odd man out unless I feel like jockeying cars. I really got spoiled with remote start on the 2017. I know I can buy aftermarket remote start units, and they will even work with my factory remote. But I’m not going to do that until the fall if there’s a chance I’m going to sell it. I should look into if that remote start kit has the ability to unlock my trunk. I know it’s capable of smart phone start and a host of other things if I get the upgraded package, but I have no interest in starting my car with my phone.

So True!
When I drove my 03 F150 to the dealer to trade it in had to take the toll road, 30+ miles, and the closer I got to the dealer the more sounds I started to hear, felt like the leading driver in a NASCAR race, you hear everything about to go wrong!
You really don't realize how old your vehicle is until you get into a 20+ year newer one!

For some reason the Subaru has never been on my list. Yeah I hear about the snow thing, I have other ways to mitigate winter driving.
A relative or two owns one, don’t know of any recent issues.

Viagra? Nah, the suspension is plenty stiff. Shit I didn’t know that stuff worked on cars.

It’s a car, not a super car or muscle car, what about an Outback would excite you?
Pull up to a traveling women’s softball game and there will be plenty of excitement, maybe not from you but trust me

I found one! The “Put your seatbelt on” chime is loud and annoying. I was going to cut the wires to the damn chime this afternoon. Instead I found a video showing how to permanently disable that annoying chime. No wire cutting, just a sequence of actions inside the vehicle.
Finally a plus!

For those of you who have the seatbelt alarm harping at you, just get a seatbelt extension. Kills the alarms and you dont have to fish around for a low mounted buckle either. Dealers are supposed to provide them for free when you buy the car. Supposedly. Otherwise, BezosMart has them.

Damn, my 05 outback sedan dings at me, I connect the seat belts and then disconnect and the sound goes away but dashlight still lights up.
I saw a bright red Crosstrek the other day, sure looks good. I've seen more than a few lifted Crosstreks on the highway too.
Just a reminder about the CVT, Subaru was the first but we'll see how the maintenance/repair costs go. Wouldn't mind a hybrid (with the 1.2l engine, ha)
