Due for an oil change so I'll take it in have the shop take a look. It seems intermittent as well (no issues when driving today).

Year, make, and model?
I thought you had the Lexus GX460 maybe?

My manual transmission doesn't have this problem.

Is it in a towing or similar mode?
My Explorer & Expedition will hold higher RPMs in drive modes other than Normal & Eco [most noticeable in Sport & Tow]

Do a complete flush with new tranny filter. Not a simple drain and fill, you need a 150% volume complete flush with fresh fluid. The extra 20 to 50% fresh fluid volume flush will clean out everything - valve body, torque converter, etc. Replace all soft tranny cooler hoses. New filter, pan gasket. This will cure your delayed shifting, and add another 100k miles of life to your transmission. If you enjoy that work you can do it yourself, if not find a shop that will go the extra mile for a complete flush plus refill. A standard "Transmission Service" may still fix it, but at your mileage with original factory fill, you'll be much better off with the option I just described. Until you do this everything else suggested so far could be a waste of time and money.

^^ agree with the thought but we don’t even know if his tranny has a filter. He hasn’t given any info.

Hi guys. Thanks for the suggestions. Doesn’t sound like expected behavior so I’m having a shop look at it while it’s in for regular service. Thanks!

I hope the next post up here isn't "My gun isn't working. What is wrong with it?" Or "I"m going hunting. Which gun should I take?"
