Dryer is about 6 years old, even after cleaning the lint/vent as far as I can, the check vent light is on every use new house, light still illuminates, and the vent path is only about 8in through the wall.

Is there a simple sensor that can be replaced?

Lessee, I got a Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum (damn fancy!)

After a few months of using it, we started getting the sensor light on. I pulled the vent tube out and cleaned it and the issue went away for a few months, and now, we're back to it.

I suspect that this 'overheat' sensor is calibrated a bit on the sensitive side. Whirlpool is being cautious, no doubt, since you can manage to burn your house down with a clothes dryer, if you're stupid enough.

Now, on my dryer, if you just do a timed dry, the light does not come on.

Don't know if this applies or not. My sister has a dryer that injects steam during the permanent press cycle which supposedly causes the lint to harden and cause the vent light to illuminate. I have no personal experience as I have an old dryer with dials.

No steam cycle
Not a Platinum

Will try timed dry & see what it does.

It doesn't affect the cycle, just the light is on & on rare occasions will beep.

Model number?

And are you saying you have moved since the problem started and the light still stays on?

It is a Cabrio Platinum
Model: WED8200YW0

Correct, check vent light comes on mid cycle, even after we've moved into a different house.
