Okay. Shop says evaporator coil leak. Need to remove dashboard, etc. 1 day job and $1600.

Blue book is saying the car is only worth $2000.

I'm torn. I can't really afford a new car right now. But I don't want to spend $1600 and then chase after it with more expensive repairs? What's next, transmission? Valves/rings? Differential?

But if I spend $!600 and the car lasts another year or two with just regular maintenance, then it would be worth it.

Ugh, could be worse. It could have failed at the beginning of summer. I could drive it around as-is for a month or so before winter hits (and need the AC to keep the windows clear).

ETA: sigh. decided to go ahead and fix. I can't afford a new car right now. And I'll need the AC to defog windows in a couple of months. So might as well just fix it. Cup Noodles diet from now so that I can save up to buy a car next year.
