The link has photos, one shows a security person carrying what appears to be an M-4 with a carry handle. https://www.navytimes.com/news...-gate-in-stolen-car/ Man shot to death at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi after crashing stolen SUV By: Carl Prine 4 hours ago Base security forces on Thursday morning fatally shot a man who charged at them after he crashed a stolen vehicle into a north gate barrier at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi, officials told Navy Times. Officials at the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that they have scheduled an autopsy for the unidentified dead man for Thursday afternoon. Corpus Christi Police Department officials have traced the stolen Ford Edge crossover SUV to a carjacking at a gas station that occurred around 7 a.m. Thursday about 8 miles west of NAS Corpus Christi’s south gate. That’s where the man entered the base about 30 minutes later, speeding and weaving to avoid NAS Corpus Christi Security forces in hot pursuit, according to three written statements sent to Navy Times by officials there. The man drove across the base and attempted to escape through the north gate along Ocean Drive but crashed and the SUV erupted in flames, authorities said. Bolting from the SUV, he “charged Security force personnel, who fired shots in response,” the statement said. Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The gate remains closed until further notice but the base has resumed operations. “As is routine, the Security force members have been assigned to administrative duties while the incident is under review,” according to the statement. Officer Gena Pena, a spokeswoman for the Corpus Christi Police Department, told Navy Times that the man used “some level of force” to push a woman out of the way while she was trying to put gas in her dark gray 2015 Ford Edge at a filling station along Everhart Road. Although the carjacker’s death has been confirmed, authorities are treating the case as an aggravated robbery. The woman suffered minor injuries, Pena added.

Well that fellow found out what it's like to run a car up onto a US military base and come up against a 20 year old hard charger who is jacked up on Red Bulls, plays Call of Duty in his off time and prays for some terrorist mo fo to charge his gate while he is on duty. I am sure the security personnel when faced with such were thinking more along the lines of suicide bomber than they are fleeing felon in such a case. I would be anyway.

Don’t think they woulda shot him if he didn’t run at them. We had a few gate runners (vogelweh air base Germany) and they never got shot. One of them I’m the one who caught him, saw him pull into the gas station and tried to felony stop him and he wouldn’t obey any commands so I ended up pulling him out at gun point. Dude ran the gate trying to bring 2 Syrian chicks he met at the club on post. The girls seriously looked like bin laden in drag.. Syrians are on the no go list for getting a visitors pass, so this dip shit went through the army side that is guarded by contractors.

From the above report it sounds like he made it onto the base and drove through it and actually crashed before making it out the other side... sounds like drugs or a plan to end it all or both were involved. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

This has more photos and details, but no ID of the suspect with "multiple gunshot wounds." https://www.caller.com/story/n...-christi/2868625002/ Man fatally shot at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi after pursuit, crash in stolen car Monica Lopez and Alexandria Rodriguez, Corpus Christi Caller Times Published 8:52 a.m. CT Feb. 14, 2019 | Updated 6:41 p.m. CT Feb. 14, 2019 A man was fatally shot after military officials say he drove through a gate early Thursday at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi, and sped away before crashing into a barrier. First responders and emergency officials responded to the "real-world security incident" at about 7:30 a.m. after the unidentified man drove onto the base through the South gate on the Flour Bluff side on NAS Drive, according to a statement from base spokeswoman Fifi Kieschnick. The driver then led security personnel on a chase before the vehicle crashed into a barrier at the base's North gate on Ocean Drive. "The suspect exited the vehicle that had caught on fire, and charged Security Force personnel, who fired shots in response," according to the statement. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the man's name or age or details about the shooting. Officials with the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office said the man, who is between 20 and 30 years old, had multiple gunshot wounds. The car, a gray Ford Edge, was reported stolen earlier that morning, according to the military and police. A police spokesman said a man forced his way into the vehicle about 7 a.m. while a woman was pumping gas at a Stripes convenience store in the 4700 block of South Padre Island Drive near Everhart Road. Both north and south gates to the base were closed during the incident, but the south gate has since reopened, she said. The north Ocean Drive gate will be closed to all traffic until further notice. The charred SUV was seen in Navy photos on top of a base barricade. One photo shows the front of the SUV suspended in the air. Parts of the vehicle are on the ground Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, federal agents and Navy Security Forces are also visible in the photo. Car parts are seen scattered a few feet in front of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the Port Police Chief Eric Giannamore heightened the security at the Port of Corpus Christi because of the incident at the base. A boat already patrols the channel 24 hours a day but port police have added additional security measures such as adding additional officers at all access port access points. The base resumed normal operations about noon. Delays are expected at the main gate. Kieschnick said the scene has been secured and there is no danger base personnel or employees, or the community As a routine precaution, security personnel on the base also have been assigned to administrative duties while the incident is under investigation. Reporter Tim Acosta contributed to this report.

Second paragraph of the quoted article in the original post says "unidentified dead man." No mention of nationality. I think we might be able to guess, but there will probably be more information available later. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים
