Which page(s) of those 13 discuss(es) the OP's specific question? And how do we add a poll to an existing thread? I can't seem to figure that out.

I spent a lot of time looking at solutions of gear to grab/slip on to hold magazines, flashlights, medical, and other supplies during a home defense situation. In the end, I figured that if I am going to put something on, it might as well hold some plates. I want to say I bought them 3 years ago. I would like a second set, but the market is pretty rough right now, so I am content with what I have.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I have front, rear and side plates in a carrier should the shit hit the fan.

Picked it up as a cop when i realized how fragile of country really is.

It was something on my list for quite a while. I bought mine back in March when things started going down hill. I'm glad to have it should the need arise. I also like wearing it around like a weight vest for exercise.

After wearing body armor most of my professional life, I am glad to be rid of it. Especially this time of year!
But, it may be time to look into it again.

I never gave it serious thought, but this thread makes me reconsider.

Yeah! This part about wearing body armor really sucks!! I'm a Northern NH person and dislike warm days. My dream days are between 65 and 70 degrees, low humidity. Most of the summer exceeds that in both temp and humidity. After 8-10 hour shifts, I stink like a Sasquatch! The carrier gets weekly washings and get Fabreeze'd every day! Gotta do what you need to do!

Since around 1988 due to my job.
When I retired from policing, I kept my last vest.

So I have one now that is IIA.

It’s next to the shotgun for bumps in the night.
I doubt I will ever have to wear it again.

Still have mine from the sheriff dept and it is getting old but never really thought about it till I watched the video of armed thugs protesting at Stone Mountain.

Time to update to stay on an even footing if things go south in Memphis

I have had lv4 for a couple years, just picked up some lvl 3+ for the car. Still need to round out the collection for the family. Boy has lv2a with rifle plates, misses has lv3 plates and both have surplus helmets.

Skimming a few of its pages, it does not appear to answer the OP poll.

The poll questions to me appear chosen to validate the OP desire for armor. There is no reason to validate. It is like any other decision.

I wear armor under my shirt on a uniformed volunteer police job. It is hot, uncomfortable, and requires oversize shirts. I cannot foresee choosing to wear armor in normal activities. Everyone will see you are wearing armor. Everyone will wonder why you are wearing armor. Everyone will question your occupation, and potentially assume you are LE.

Would I feel more safe wearing the armor? Given my present course of avoiding areas of concern in my fair city, no. There are still, thankfully, a majority of neighborhoods and retail areas without high risk.

I have not interest FOR NOW.

I live in a town that the police log is full of noise complaints, an occasional fender bender and lost phones.

The occasional drug bust and DUI seem to be the the most serious crimes.

If that changes I could quickly change my mind.

better to have and not need, than to need and not have

if I had told you a year ago that organized leftist mobs, armed with guns, would take over and occupy sizeable parcels of American cities committing crimes (looting, arson, assaults, intimidation, etc) and cops would stand back and allow it to happen -- would you have believed me?
