Yep. Simple rule of thumb for both kids and everyone else...Be polite. Cooperate. And most importantly, don't be an asshole (again, refer to the Chris Rock video). Follow those simple guidelines and you'll fair just fine.

For school kids, the police are your friends, and they are people, too. Be polite and respectful as you would with any adult. And, a smile and a "Good Morning!" works wonders if you happen to pass by one.

Show respect and the rest will usually take care of itself.

Respect the guy with the gun and the radio...he has quite a bit of control concerning your immediate future.

Be respectful. Do as instructed when instructed. Keep hands. On steering wheel until asked to produce documents. Tell the officer where those documents are before you move your hands. Keep mouth shut otherwise.

Be polite, respectful, and follow instructions as told. Don't offer up any information unless asked and only answer those questions. Don't talk yourself into a ticket or a trip to the station.
