enigmatic, no argument that the prices for old brand name products are extraordinary. That said there are any number of discount cards available that make the generic very inexpensive.

V-TailFor those of us in the southeastern U.S., Publix has a long list of meds that are free, even without insurance.
Probably a good way to get people into the store. Might as well do the grocery shopping as long as you're there.

Do you have a solution to this issue of the FDA? Do you source all of your food and check for salmonella, antibiotics, and listeria?
I posted this article in the hopes that would help others on this forum. Back on task please. If you want to debate the FDA please start another thread.
I will stay off this thread. But just to be fair, you asserted that it may be good for Amazon to enter the generic Rx space. And indeed it may be net beneficial. But they are doing it for profit, not for the benefit of the public and any altruistic tendency. And so there are aspects of caveat emptor that may be material. That's all I was trying to point out. There are cautions to go along with the goodness.
There is no free lunch and cheaper isn't always better.

Online pharmacy GoodRx accused of illegally sharing health data“The telemedicine company GoodRx is facing allegations it illegally shared data with Google, Facebook and other firms to more efficiently advertise drugs.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed an official complaint against the Santa Monica, California-based website on Wednesday. The website allows users to compare drug prices from multiple pharmacies and helps them find coupons.
It allegedly shared information on what prescriptions a person had and what health conditions they may be suffering to advertising platforms, allowing them to target ads towards potential customers better.
The firm has agreed to pay a $1.5million penalty if the proposed federal court order is approved. A Department of Justice order will also ban it from sharing sensitive data and ask Google, Facebook and others to delete GoodRx data they currently have. …”

OKCGene^^^^^^^ OOOOhhhh how interesting.
I’ve always wondered and asked how GoodRx made money and no one could ever tell me how. They were always a “free service”.
Very interesting, thanks for posting this.

Both brand name and generics are manufactured in India as well as other places. The FDA is responsible for oversight. Offshore manufacturing of drugs has been going on for a long time.
Just because a drug is manufactured in the United States does not mean it is safe. Recall the Abbott labs debacle??
Of course if you are buying illicit drugs over the internet, all bets are off.

FDa is not inspecting USA companies anywhere near their schedule. If they are behind by years in Massachusetts and don’t have time to cover the whole plant while here, I can’t imagine how backlogged they are overseas.

HRKJust got a Prednisone script, doc sent it to two pharmacies on the list in error, for shits'n giggles checked the prices for the exact same script. Pays to shop, now this isn't a big money script, but, the points the same....
Costco $6
Publix $1.75
Most think Costco, so it will be less expensive, but it's not always so, plus, that $6 at Costco would end up being $306....

Ain’t that the truth. I renewed my membership the other day and the lady behind the counter told me I should get a Costco credit card because I spent almost 13k in there the last year and I about fainted. I have a real problem going inside that store.

Not surprising at all. I have a generic med that is priced at 806 per month. A coupon at GoodRx and the cost is $21.86. I will give up that health data for that amount of savings. I wish GoodRxwere avaible for some brand drugs I take.
