Yesterday, a gathering here in northern Kentucky in a lot, of mexicans. They are driving all over flying the flag of their country. I am wondering if it's a mexican holiday or are they just hanging out their pride for all to see? Are you seeing this where you live?

September 16 is the anniversary of the Mexican Independence Day when the war of independence from Spain began in 1810. That's a Monday this year so they started on Saturday, 9/14, in a lot of places rather than the evening of the 15th like usual. Several other Central American countries also celebrate September 15 as their independence day. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca

Do Americans living in other countries drive around towns in their trucks with American flags flying on July 4th? ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

I didn’t know, but it doesn’t bother me if the Mexicans living here do it. The Mexican-heritage people I encounter here in San Diego are average folk – mostly decent. Americans of Irish heritage show Irish pride too. Serious about crackers

It's worth noting that Sept 16 is the real Mexican Independence Day, not Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo is a minor holiday turned into a beer holiday by American brewing companies. The equivalent would be turning D Day or VJ Day into beer-drinking festival. There's something associated w/ Mexican Independence called El Grito, the cry or scream, so don't be alarmed if you find a bunch of Mexicans screaming today or tomorrow.

Oddly enough in Southern California I see far more big ass trucks running around with Trump flags. Didn’t notice any Mejico flags. Weird shit, Mexico flags in Kentucky and Trump flags in California ...Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, was just a freight train coming your way...

My local Americans usually find a way to display Ol' Betsy on July 4th whilst out in the community, but the mostly they don't have trucks on account of the price of gas here in UK and the rest of Europe. Going on base is a different matter - flags are everywhere - and why not?

See post at the bottom of this page. Regardless of your view of the UK, the Americans of my acquaintance are not so crass. They might have a smaller window sticker, but outright snoot-cocking in a host country is not the way business is done hereabouts. We usually go along to a big barbecue hosted by our American friends, and there are plenty of flags to be seen there - every burger has one, for a start. I'd like to think that we are grown-up enough to be able to congratulate each other on our sundry freedoms, not to try and score points and renew old hatreds.

This whole "independace" thing, Is it still pertinent? Regardless of the country. If over 50% of your current countries success is dependant on other countries , How independent are you ? Really ? Well, you're in Simi Valley. Very conservative place. Going through Southern California is deceptive especially when I saw all the signs for the recall against Newsome. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
