So, I need a small-ish super easy rice cooker. The type you throw rice and water, push a button abd cant screw up. I know many use insta pots but i'm not looking for that.

What says the SigForum

Cheers

Zojirushi for the win!
I've tried the really cheap ones, and they did not work for me. I don't cook rice in my instant pot either, only the Zojirushi. I've had it for near 20 years and it works great.

+1 on the Zojirushi.

I've had mine for almost 15 years and still works great.

I've been very pleased with the Aroma ARC-616SB rice cooker I bought in 2014. Much less expensive than the Z. Smile

Another +1 for Zojirushi

But for smaller amounts: 1C white rice, 1C water, bring to a boil on Medium heat covered. Boil for 1 min (watch for overflow!, if you want a clean stove), turn heat to lowest for 10 min. Rest for 5-10, done.

We also have a Zojirushi. It makes Rice very well. I always ruined it when doing it in a pot on the stove. This makes it idiot proof. We have 5.5c model.

For basic, reliable results, I'd go with this. It's their basic model, single button and feature.
Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup

3-cups is fine for 2-people, go larger if you got a family.

If you want to go super tricked-out, fully-featured, check these out from South Korea Cool

Yep, one cup of rice per two cups of water. Simmer for 20 minutes. Done

Throw in a couple of bullion cubes for some seasoned rice

I bought a Zojirushi several years ago based on the recommendations here. It has worked better than I expected and even my wife likes it and she typically steers clear of electronic appliances with large menus. She hates the instant pot but loves this.

We have all kinds of rice cooker, from one that can calculate the trajectory of the space station to a hammer just for driving nails. This one is cheap and reliable too. $16

I think it's better to have both. That way you can cook your starch while the main entree is stewing. Everything ready at the same time.

I've never liked the way IP cooks rice. It's good for a number of things but, rice cooking I find it falls short.

Me too, but she still uses the machine, and her mom does too.
