The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room |
I just bought my son his first rifle--A Savage Axis .243. It came with a Weaver 3-9, but I want to mount a Leupold on it. The problem I'm having is the rifle mounts are spaced too far apart for the scope. Do I need to mount an aluminum rail so I can set the rings to fit the scope? Is this what is called a Weaver mount? Sorry, I'm a newb at this. What is the easiest way to mount the scope? Here is a picture of the scope mounts on the rifle. ======================== NRA Basic Pistol Instructor NRA Home Firearm Safety Instructor NRA Range Officer NRA Life Member Arkansas Concealed Carry Instructor #13-943 | ||

Yes, those are Weaver style bases. You either need a single base with multiple slots, or you need extension rings. The easiest thing to do is remove those bases and put on a single multi-slot rail. https://www.amazon.com/Weaver-...e-Axis/dp/B006YU66XK _____________ "I enter a swamp as a sacred place—a sanctum sanctorum.
