Our 6 year old son wants a Nerf gun for Christmas, this will be his gateway into guns hopefully. I might need two of them, one for him and our 4 year old daughter (or me). Any recommendations? I saw Costco has something.

He also wants a toy bow and arrow, if you have any suggestions for that.

You could kill two birds with one stone by getting him a Nerf gun that's also a bow.

They offer a "Stratobow" that's basically a 15-shot Nerf gun, but instead of pulling a trigger to launch a dart, you pull back on a bowstring to shoot it.

You really can't go wrong. I will recommend that you avoid the "ultra-mega battery powered" Nerf rifles. The smaller spring loaded ones are a hoot and don't require nearly the attention the battery powered ones do.

x2 on that. I bought my daughter the nerf "m60" looking one, it sucked. The spring loaded ones are much better.

Nerf Rival are awesome. Get him the pump action so it doesn't rely on batteries and get yourself the battery powered automatic to return fire.

If you have one as well, you can teach him the proper ambush against Mom.

Look for the small single shot pistol style. Simple to use, one at a time (like learning real guns) and hard to loose the bullets compared to the bigger ones that spew rounds.

My 18 year old still tries to stalk old dad with his. Good thing my ninja skills still hold.

Cheers~

DO NOT Get the one that shoots little sized "nerf " golf balls. Those fuckers hurt...and Tommy has on that is automatic and has a magazine that hold about fifty of the things.

Stick to pistols that have a pull ring on the back and fire one dart at a time.

Nerf Zombie Strike Hammershot Blaster

Amazon has them for Cyber Monday special for only $6.97 as an add-on item to any order totaling $25 or more. Ours has been lots of fun and reliable. Smile
